Upland Hills Academic Calendar 2019/20 now on sale

Robert’s group created a calendar for the upcoming school year.  Featuring birthday photos or names of every child, the calendar also includes some important whole school dates for the year.  Each month is beautifully decorated by one of the children in Robert’s group:

Printed in full color on heavy weight glossy paper.

Cost:  $15 for one, $25 for two.  They make great gifts for grandparents!

Please email robert.crowe@uplandhills.org or fill out the paper form in the hall by Robert’s room to order. Completed calendars can also be collected in the same place.

Pick-up and Drop-off Reminder

New parents, the parking lot at the west side of the school is called the Safe Circle. Safe Circle is only for picking up and dropping off your child while you stay in the car. Apple Tree parking lot, located to the east of the school, is only used when walking in or out with your child.  Parents need to walk their children to and from school when using Apple Tree lot.

UPCOMING DATES

Song Spirals – Saturday, September 14th 7pm

Come celebrate our founding director, Phil on his birthday with the songs of Upland Hills School in the theatre. Bring a dessert to celebrate this sweet time.

Fall Fundraiser Farm Dinner – Saturday, September 21th  5:15pm

“Love is Always the Main Ingredient”

Join us for a special al fresco evening in the garden. Chef Cass is collaborating with farmers Ken and Liz to design a delicious farm dinner menu based upon the bounty offered by the Upland Hills CSA garden. Craft beer and natural wines included.

We are excited to offer our first, true farm-to-table experience for the community. All of the proceeds from the dinner will support Upland Hills School’s ongoing vision of cultivating ecological awareness by experiencing the cycle of growing, preparing and eating high quality, delicious food.

Seating is limited to 60 people, so register today and tell your friends! https://uplandhills.org/register/farm-to-table/

October 23 – Empty bowls

This year marks the 28th Empty Bowls event for Upland Hills School. Join us on Tuesday, October 24, 2019 for a simple meal of soup and bread and help fight hunger. We hope you will join us for this long standing and very special community evening at UHS. In exchange for a donation to Gleanor’s Food Bank you take home a clay bowl as a token to remind us to consider those in need.

Our children will help to bake bread and prepare a pot of vegetable soup from our school gardens. If you would like to contribute to the evening with a pot of vegetarian soup or a loaf of bread, please let us know.

RSVP by email terry.gardner@uplandhills.org or by phone (248) 693-2878 in order to determine food quantities.

Tillson Street in Romeo

Volunteers needed on Tuesday, October 29th and Wednesday, October 30th from 6-10pm.

Upland Hills School has been gifted two nights of parking revenue from Pradko Gallagher and Slanec Family Dentistry in Romeo. People flock to Romeo’s “haunted” Tilson street in October. We are looking for a few volunteers to be parking attendants on Tuesday, Oct. 29th and Wednesday, Oct. 30th. It will be a fun evening and a great school fundraiser all in one! Let us know if you are available to share a shift.  Please contact Terry Gardner at terry.gardner@uplandhills.org
