Upland
Hills Farm |
Upland Hills Farm was founded by Knight and Dorothy
Webster in 1960. Knight was a farm boy from Wisconsin with a
degree in agriculture and Dorothy was an educator. Their
dream was to bring the joys and lessons of rural life to an
ever increasing urban society.
That dream has taken many paths through the years. The Farm
has grown from 1,000 people served in 1960 to over 100,000
people annually today. We've expanded services from the
initial day camp and hayrides to the programs listed in the
bars to the left.
The traditions of the farm are now being carried on by a
second generation: Steve and Leslie Webster, with Casey
Berant as the Camp Director and Farm Manager.

Upland
Hills Ecological Awareness Center |
HOW CAN WE AT ONCE ENRICH OUR LIVES AND HONOR
NATURE?
WHAT THINGS NURTURE OUR AWARENESS OF THE DEEP CONNECTION WE
ALL HAVE WITH THE NATURAL WORLD?
HOW CAN WE DO MORE WITH LESS?
Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center exists to explore
these questions. Constructed by dedicated and ambitious
volunteers from 1973 to 1977, the Center was designed to
embrace and blend into Nature... both visually and
ecologically. It was envisioned to serve as a beautiful and
comfortable gathering space where people could learn and
journey together toward a joyful and responsible relationship
with the natural world.

Upland
Hills CSA
Community Supported Agriculture |
Welcome to the Upland Hills Organic CSA!
With the inspiration of this year’s school theme, The
Learning Community, members of our faculty along with
present and former parents and individuals from Upland Hills
Farm and Upland Hills Ecological Awareness Center have taken
the beginning steps to create a sustainable community farm.
With the commitment of Les Roggenbuck of East River Organic
Farm and the blessing of Steve and Leslie Webster of Upland
Hills Farm along with many other organizations and
University support we are ready to open this opportunity to
you.
There are many inspiring ideas being considered at this
planning stage, especially as we apply for grant money to
aid in the ongoing development of a community farm. Some
examples are using the farm as an “incubator” for teaching
about sustainable growing practices, year-round farming, and
educational outreach.
